About Peanut

Hi there! My name is Peanut, and I’m a one-year-old, 38-pound German Shepherd/Husky mix girl searching for my forever home. My journey hasn’t been an easy one—I was found wandering the streets of Pittsburg and ended up in a shelter, where I was heartbreakingly put on the euthanasia list. But then, my foster parents swooped in and saved my life, giving me a second chance.
Because of my tough past, I can be shy at first. It takes me some time to trust, but once I feel safe with you, my heart will be yours. I’ll show you just how much I adore you by coming up to lick your hands eagerly, asking for the love and affection I so deeply crave. I come alive in my backyard, where I can run free, explore, and chase after my favorite toy—a ball! But I also have a calm side; after a bit of playtime, I’m more than happy to curl up at your feet while you work or snuggle next to you on the couch while we watch TV together.
I’m housebroken and crate-trained, and my crate feels like my cozy little sanctuary. When it’s time to go in, my foster parents just point, and I happily trot right in. If I can have a chew snack (bully stick – yum yum!), I’ll be even happier! My foster parents placed me twice in a boarding facility during their weekend trips, and I was always comfortable and content being there. I get along well with other dogs.
I’m a quick learner too! I already know commands like sit, down, shake, and touch, and I love showing off my tricks, especially if there are treats involved. Car rides? No problem! I’m a great passenger and never get carsick.
Because I can still get spooked by loud noises or sudden movements, I think I’d do best in a quiet neighborhood where I can feel more at ease. Little kids can make me nervous, but I do great with older kids—my foster family’s neighbor kids, who are 10 and 12, are my best buddies! I try so hard not to pull on the leash, but sometimes my nerves get the best of me, and all I want to do is hurry back home to safety.
If you’re looking for a loyal, sweet, and gentle companion who just needs a little patience to blossom, I’m your girl. Once I feel your love, I’ll be devoted to you forever. Right now, I’m waiting for you in Sunnyvale, CA. Could you be the one to give me the forever home I’ve been dreaming of?
