About Madonna/Donna

Introducing Donna, a stunning brindle German Shepherd mix looking for a new chapter and a loving family. Approximately three years old, this intelligent and loyal girl was rescued from a shelter’s euthanasia list by a wonderful group of volunteers. After a rough start to life, she’s now ready to find her forever home. Rest assured, Donna is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations, so she’s healthy and ready to go!

Why Donna is the Perfect Companion

  • Next-level Smart and Trainable: Donna is incredibly intelligent and thrives on mental challenges. She’s both house and crate trained and is highly motivated by food and treats, with no resource guarding issues.
  • Incredibly Loving: She loves to be near her people, laying her head on your lap and looking into your soul with her beautiful brown eyes. She gives the softest kisses and is wonderfully affectionate.
  • An Active Partner: If you love to run, hike, or be active, Donna is your girl. She gets so excited for her daily runs that she practically does backflips! She loves car rides and is always ready for an adventure.
  • Fun and Playful: Donna has a wonderfully puppy-like playfulness. She loves toys and will keep you entertained with her playful spirit.

What Donna Needs in a Home

Donna is a high-energy dog who needs more than just a daily walk. She requires regular, vigorous exercise and plenty of mental stimulation to be her happiest self. Enrichment toys and activities are a must for this smart girl.
As an individual who is highly dog-reactive, Donna may do best as the only dog in the home. We have not attempted any formal dog introductions, but with a dog-savvy handler willing to invest in training, who knows what is possible for this girl. She has, however, done well with crate rotation when other temporary fosters were in the house.
While she’s incredibly gentle with people inside the home and has done great with all the children she’s met (ages 7–12), she can sometimes be reactive to people and bikes while on her leash on runs. Donna needs a confident leader who can continue her training and help her feel safe in all situations. She is still learning that not everything has to be scary and can be a bit skittish with loud noises.
Donna is not a couch potato dog—she needs someone who understands the German Shepherd breed’s need for activity and training. With a little patience and a willingness to invest in her, she will be the most loyal companion you could ask for.
Time is of the essence, as we are moving soon and don’t want to see Donna in a stressful kennel environment. We are praying for her forever family, but a breed-specific rescue would also be a fantastic option. Please reach out to learn more about this special girl or to arrange a meet and greet.
