About Flora

Lovely Flora, a 6-year-old, 50lb, female Siberian Husky was recently rescued from the shelter and is currently in a wonderful foster home. Here are some detailed notes from her caring Foster mom: I firmly believed Flora just needed time to decompress from the noisy shelter environment and time to realize she was safe! She knows the routine here really well… i.e., she is smart and a fast learner! She knows some commands, sit, paw, and lay down she takes food and treats very gently from day one. She has never tried to bite me while feeding her. She had very slow introductions to my animals after quarantine was over. She did well meeting my pups through first a crate and or fencing separating them. Then met them face to face (on a leash) she did so well with those introductions big tail wags, everything you want to see when introducing new dog friends! Then she finally met one dog at a time and it went great. After meeting everybody individually she met them two at a time and then even they were all together 4 dogs total running and playing

Flora has a sweet personality, is a leaner, and likes to crawl into your lap and cuddle!! She is not super high energy all the time as she is said to be about 6-7 years old. However, it’s fun to watch her get the zoomies and have a burst of high energy!!! She likes to lay next to me or on me on the couch and does like to play parkour jumping over my couch! She has not had any accidents inside the house or her crate. I’ve crate rained her and she is very food/treats motivated! She is a little shy around men but does well with older kids she has met. (Jr High and his age kids is who she has met so far! Barks at people she doesn’t know (I think that is a good quality) but warms up quickly! She appears to be out of the young destructive to furniture/plants/toys age and has good manners in my home and yard! She is going to make an excellent fur member in the family that adopts her!!

Please know the Husky breed when adopting!! They have certain mannerisms that people might not understand if they have never owned a Husky! Prey drive, smaller animals…she has been introduced but likes to chase my cats, some huskies are super vocal, she likes to sing along a bit but not a lot she whines a little (talking), not a lot!!! Doesn’t bark much!! Thank you, Jesus!! Does her husky thing of being bossy to my lab, puts her head over the lab’s body, sounds like growling while playing but isn’t…just talking…and having fun!!! Tails are wagging just the “huskisms” some have!!
