A Community Dog is a dog who, through no fault of their own, has lost their home in unexpected ways. Often, they’ve been rescued from shelter euthanasia lists, but they’re still missing the person(s) they once called family. The circumstances vary, but we are hopeful that Community dogs are given second chances at finding a forever home. All the Dogs are located in the Northern California Bay Area.

To adopt a community dog, please complete our online questionnaire. This is independent of any specific rescue and helps our volunteers match you with the right dog. We’ll follow up with next steps, including an interview, home check, and connecting you with a knowledgeable volunteer.

To adopt a dog, you need to have stable housing and provide proper care and maintenance for the animal. It’s important to have enough time for training and walks. Those responsible for the dog will also check if your situation is suitable for the specific dog.

We work directly with shelters and local rescues to bring more exposure to dogs in need. We are unaffiliated with any specific rescue or shelter, but do coordinate with many in the bay area.
