Calvin may be shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s a loving, affectionate velcro pup who enjoys giving kisses and receiving belly rubs. He’s gaining confidence daily and is 95% housebroken with a doggy door, though he may mark when left alone. He loves carrying and burying small toys, “hunting” for treats in blankets, and is still adjusting to crate training—hotdog pieces help! While he will settle if someone is nearby, he shouldn’t be left unattended in a crate. On walks, Calvin is alert and cautious around people and other dogs, especially loud noises. He’s still working on leash manners and coexists peacefully with his foster’s dogs, but not the foster’s cats. Calvin would thrive in a calm home with a secure yard and a patient owner who can continue his training. A household with older children or a confident, laid-back dog would be ideal to help him feel secure.
