Meet Ashton Tyler, a handsome and gentle 3-year-old Doberman! This sweet boy is great with cats and other dogs (though he mostly keeps to himself). He’s blossoming socially, starting to play with other pups and even showing off his happy “zoomies”!
While Ashton needs a patient and understanding home to help him overcome his shyness and some anxieties, he’s a loving companion waiting for the right person. He’s happiest in a calm environment, possibly with another dog for company. He’s not a fan of dog parks or long leash walks (he prefers to stay close!), and he’s still working on his house training. Ashton’s quirks make him extra special, and he’s sure to bring immense love to a patient and experienced adopter.
The Good:
* Great with cats and other dogs (mostly ignores them, but starting to play more).
* Food motivated, making training easier.
* Loves body rubs and sunbathing.
* Making progress with his male foster dad, showing he can learn to trust.
* Shows happy “zoomies” and is starting to play, indicating he’s coming out of his shell.
* Adores food and is very well-behaved around it (unless unsupervised).
The Challenges:
* Wary of people, especially men.
* Not housebroken and may have accidents.
* Not suitable for dog parks or off-leash walks; prefers to stay close on leash.
* Can be anxious and stressed easily.
* Wakes frequently at night and can become distressed.
* Has some unexplained fears and behaviors (circling, fear of certain movements/touches).
* Needs a patient and experienced adopter to help him overcome his anxieties.
Ashton is located with his Foster family in El Sobrante, CA
