Promote + Network + Connect

At The Village Bark, we connect wonderful community dogs—many saved from shelter euthanasia lists—with loving foster and adoptive families. The Village Bark is not a rescue; we are a website providing exposure and connections for Community Dogs in the Northern California Bay Area. We’re dedicated to Promoting, Networking and Connecting these amazing dogs to help them find loving homes—one wagging tail at a time!

Making Connections

We operate a third-party platform that collects information about local community dogs. Therefore, do not take personal responsibility for the listed dogs or the outcomes of any adoption or foster arrangements. Most importantly, we provide bios and connection resources to facilitate meetings and increase exposure for the dogs in need. Volunteers and/or the involved rescue or shelter must make final adoption arrangements directly. Volunteers exclusively provide the submitted biographies, and these do not reflect the views or opinions of The Village Bark

Submit a Pup Bio

If you know a rescue or shelter dog in desperate need of exposure, submit a Pup Bio HERE. We are not a rescue. We partner with rescues, shelters, and volunteers to help dogs in urgent situations, working to carefully vet every case—bear in mind we do not operate a re-homing site (we do not post or support rehoming requests due to life changes like having kids, moving, etc.). And we don’t work with breeders or those looking to profit. As volunteers, we aim to give dogs in urgent situations the second chance they deserve! Be as descriptive as you can for best outcomes.

Volunteer Driven

We're proud of our awesome volunteer team working together to help wonderful community dogs in need! The Village Bark connects people to help facilitate foster/adopter interviews and writing catchy bios; each volunteer plays a key role in getting local pups the exposure they deserve. Consider us the local online classifieds for dogs in need!

Why Adopt?

The Bay Area is in crisis mode. Shelters in California euthanize over 100,000 dogs every year. America ranks us as the #1 state for both shelter euthanasia and homeless animals. Adopting a community dog saves lives and gives a homeless animal a second chance. You reduce overbreeding and support ethical pet care. Plus, you gain a loving, loyal companion!
